Demandbase Doubles Down on Growth, Hires John Eitel as Chief Sales Officer

Demandbase snags veteran sales executive and promotes Alyssa Opella to senior vice president of customer experience


(SAN FRANCISCO – March, 20, 2023)Demandbase, the Smarter GTM™ company that helps B2B organizations hit their revenue goals, today announced that veteran sales executive John Eitel will be joining Demandbase as chief sales officer. John brings more than two decades of progressive technology sales experience and will help fuel continued growth through strategy, planning, and execution. In addition to Eitel’s hiring, Demandbase has also promoted Alyssa Opella to senior vice president of customer experience.

Eitel most recently served as general manager for North Americas and vice president of sales at Canva, a global brand that has attracted over 100 million monthly active users across 190 countries. At Canva, he launched the new North American region and took their enterprise, business-to-business offering to market, leading the teams and strategy. Previously he served in a variety of executive positions at WP Engine, Spiceworks, and Rackspace Technology. Over his tenure, John progressed through multiple positions of increased responsibility and scope based on a consistent record of top-tier sales performance as a manager and individual contributor, and led high-level initiatives that included turning around some of the poorest performing teams in the country. He has held roles across multiple disciplines, including sales, operations, marketing, and corporate strategy, and today advises a variety of technology organizations including Colossyan and OpenView, on product-led growth, go-to-market strategy, and evolving up-market motions.

Opella joined Demandbase in 2020 as vice president of professional services. Today she leads the customer success, professional services, customer support, and customer enablement teams, all sharing the same charter of delivering exceptional customer experiences. During her tenure at Demandbase, she has helped improve adoption and renewal rates while optimizing processes and productivity for these core business functions. Prior to Demandbase, Opella built numerous high-performance, revenue-generating services and customer success organizations for both B2B and B2C companies.
